Tiger… What?
Tigernuts are small root vegetables also known as tubers –
Potatoes and sweet potatoes are some of our relatives.
Now available in Australia and New Zealand, Tigernuts are one of the world’s oldest sources of nutrition. In fact a recent study by Oxford University indicates that we made up around 80% of Nutcracker Man’s diet between 2.4 and 1.4 million years ago[1].
Because we’re FODMAP, extremely high in fibre, vitamins C & E, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, potassium and good fats like oleic acid (of olive oil fame).
Tigernuts are also gluten, nut and dairy free and full of resistant starch (RS). RS aids digestive health, improves insulin sensitivity and lowers blood sugar levels. All good things.
Eat us as a scrumptious snack, pop us in porridge or make us into Tigernut milk. Add us to cereal, nibble with a nut mix, use for baking and in smoothie making. So. Many. Options.
